I am what I am

WWW
« on: November 11, 2007, 05:14:52 PM »

I purposely open this new post because the pictures are too many for the original.

Besides, this would be the testimonial post so those who already test driven the new models, you can write it down here.

Basically, mine is from a woman point of view, so my opinion would be more on how's the handling and so on. But you guys can add up whatever you felt while driving it.

My first impression was, hey this car is sleek. Clean lines, and not too boxy like the old one, not that I don't like my car.

According to Haji Rahim, Kah Bintang's operation director, the design were slightly altered to give it a trendy and youthful look.

In the presentation done especially for THM, yesterday, members were informed of the new CVVT engine with the double over head cam (DOHC) that is the heart of this beauty.

According to the fact sheet, the model comes with two capacity, the 1.4 manual transmission and the 1.6 automatic transmission.

The maximum power ratio are 95/6,000 and 112/6,000 for 1.4 and 1.6 respectively while the maximum torque are 12.7/4,700 and 14.8/4,500 respectively.

Both models are using sequential multi-point programmed fuel injection with fuel capacity of 45.05 litres.

As for the transmission, the 1.4 model uses 5 speed manual transmission and the 1.6 uses electronic 4 speed automatic with grade logic, override and lock-up torque converter.

One thing that has been pointed out by Haji Rahim is the new system that has been installed in the new model. The car came with a system that would cut the power from the battery when the engine has been shut down.

This is very good for those who often leave their headlamp on after getting up or down the parking lot, so owners don't have to call for town truck or jump started their cars.

Hyundai actually positioning this car as premium sedan car and for that the company made this model more spacious than the older version.

The luggage space is more spacious without compromising the passenger's compartment.

Like before, the company claimed the new model also fuel saving as per the UK, US and Canadian's reviews.

The new Accent won five stars with the US's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). For more info, you could check the website at www.safercar.gov. However, the data that have been gathered on October 25, 2007 is only for 1.6 model.

Only the 1.6 model is fitted with airbag, impact sensing door unlock, front height adjustable seatable and near flush pillar mount and front seatbelt pretensioner with force limiter.

Oh, the car REALLY have repeater this time! So no more dummy ugly looking yellow thing on the side of your car.

Moving inside, the car did feels like having enough leg room even for tall people like me. The console looks clean, complimenting the cream colour interior. The seats uses leather upholstry.

Looking for things inside of the car at night or in dimly lit places is no longer an issue. You not only have one light, but three, including in the glove compartment.

I sort of like the feel of the car. The door shuts with a thud, like expensive car would do. The steering is very responsive, though too light, one need to get really familiar to it.

Behind the wheel, what my friend used to say, flashes. He said, driving my Accent, he felt like in a sampan. Like our old Accent, it 'swings' when I did the cornering. But hey, thay's just me. Others may not feel the same.

We had the chance to test drive the car, and I did a few spin, though not the too fast too furious style. I think most members did not really pushed the car to the max, because of the space constrains - we did the test drive at the rooftop, four level above ground and in the freaking rain!

The breaking is abrupt, though the sound is no music to my ears. I later found out the sound came from the rear drum.

Performance wise, is hard to tell since we didn't tested the car on the road. So I don't know how is it like when manouvering, taking REAL corners, over taking and speeding. But will do just that once the car hit the dealers.

The car comes in four colours, but I forgot to asked which one, but one thing for sure you can get black, and two types of silver.

It will be yours in a month time and bookings would take about a month. After all, it's brand new, hot from the oven.

Here are some of our pic taken by yourstruly and ermm Accent_G and Kronick_jr.

just to add in some of my commends.

d interior spec. is almost same as my current Elantra XD, just not sure they come with EBD or not for the braking system? the space for the rear seat oso bigger than preivous model, that is the reason I choose Elantra and not Accent at tht time. But this model really impress me. With RM74k u can get a 1.6L car and the accessories is almost par with 1.8L car and it is abt RM20k lesser than other in it's class, i.e: N. Latio, Sentra, Altis 1.6L. Of cause don't tell me u want to compare with Proton, and Kia oso owned by Hyundai in Korean.

By paying less RM20k upfront for the new Korean car compare to Japanese car, so next time ur resale value is abt RM10-15k lesser than oth car in it's class, u will never say Korean car got no resale value. If ur mathematics is good, u can actually calculate how much u can save d interest from RM20k and in future when u trade in ur Hyundai car, how much $$$ u can save compare to other cars....

I personally like the CVVT engine and I can't feel the gear changing even IS was press harder to Vroooooommmm....... d car in the rain. But I feel the brake is softer than my XD. It oso got it's talking Reverse Sensor display on the top at d back. so when u reverse ur car, u can ezly read d distance from display screen.

Last saturday, we went for New Accent Teaser by Kah Bintang HQ at Jalan Ipoh. Have the opportunity to test the new feeling of this car. Eventhough there was a heavy rain at the top of 4 level of the gorund. The fear factor been swap away by the spirit of the New Accent  hehehe .

What can i say... eventhough the looks more likely to ladies driving. coz they got both mirror at the driver side and passenger..  hehehe . The interior looks for 1.6 (A) was very exclusive. Superb.. at the price of less than RM74K..
Sadly, they wont be available for 1.6 Manual...  waaaa~!!

The stock audio inside the New Accent was also very satisfied for most of the young people. For me, just enough.. no need to put some ICE.  hehehe

Was wondering, is the hatchback version would be available for this model or not? if it is in the near future. it will be fantastic.

Driving the New Accent make me feel another level at the top, stock performance is just nice. Suspension? stock must be soft and comfortable ma.. cannot do hard cornering la..  hehehe . Braking? 1.6 (A) come with ABS but sadly 1.4 (M) doesn't have it. and sadly, it doesn't come with rear disc brake. Wondering why?

Okay.. enough for my first testimonial here.. got to go for another test drive on the road i guest. Find my previous S.A la..  hehehe

I do feel it's a lady car. Well, the lines are more refined, compared to our car, musculine touch everywhere including the non exsistence vanity mirror!

This model felt too faminine with the soft colour interior, even I would like something with darker colours. Hey practicality plays big role, especially if you have small ones, I'm sure kkng and mtuc2003 would agree with me.

If we are to compare it with our car, this baby looks sexy with it's slightly rounded rear.

But I still don't like that sampan feeling, when doing corners. I felt as if I lost control of the car, for a moment. Scares me a bit, til my legs shook.

I drove both cars 1.4M and 1.6A.

1.6A
Engine is smooth  and NVH is good.Turning radius is great...the car able to squezz
in tight spaces. The std 14inch rim..wish its a 5 lug as more choice of rim will be available.

Performance... even its an alpha II engine with 112hp it does feel slow maybe because the increase in body mass.Gear shift is smooth..hardly feel any jerk from L-D.

1.4M
Supprisingly the engine able to pack some punch...can feel the good pick-up.Only slack on the clutch padel..its a bit on the high may cause engine to jerk especially during reversing....it can be rectify easily. The clutch is soft thanks to hydraulic clutch rather than the normall.Gear shift is easy... and  shifting to reverse may need
some time  getting use to it.

Interior of 1.4M and 1.6A
Nice comfortable seat and rear seating position with extra leg room is a plus. The plastic feel nice to touch..like those in CBU.The light colours on the seats...making the interior have executive looks but then it will be hasle to maintain it.Notice also gone are those inside chrome door opener.

Due to heavy rain and limited testing area...not much to say on its handling and braking power furthermore there was too much water puddles on the testing area.

From one look...this car design is nice. Will create more on lookers compare to the ugly Latio and Vios.
