I test drive the 2.0L high spec on last Friday nite.

Full loaded with 5 adults, very good in pick up. I think it's due to the high torque. Very quiet cabin (  Good in NVH), spacious as commend from my parents & brother, huge luggage boot space. I tried the sharp cornering also very stable. Head space at front & rear seat is just enough for me, but not for Dr.D. It's due to it's Panoramic roof because the roof carpet become thicker & make the space is lower.

Value for money as compare to T & H brand same class vehicle.

The nearest competitor in terms of the features, accessories is P407 which can beat it except the technology is since 2008.

i think that nicer center console is with automatic aircon...it shoudl be for 2.4 only...

Tucson 2.0 high spec also comes with manual air con..

anyway, we all know that hyundai sime dary has never put dashboard design in high priority... look at i30, Tucson and now Sonata...
we already gave feedbacks to them in this forum but they never care...

but i think the sonata specs are still good as compared to camry...

Tucson has only competitors like CRV and P3008
Sonata has more competitors like Camry, Accord, Mazda 6 and P407... we all know that it would be tough game for Sonata

I have a feeling that the Sonata 2.0 still could give some hit to Camry and Accord...

Gilbert We do take your feedbacks seriously however as you understand that we too have to ensure that the vehicle sales still moves and that the vehicle will be adopted by the market.

We could not give everything on the vehicle but subsequently have the vehicle out of price acceptance.

We opted to move ahead with the Engine start stop button and panoramic sunroof due to its' product positioning capabilities and hope all forumers understand this.

The oman spec equivalent vehicle would push the vehicle pricing well into 200k. By then we would be critisized for pricing it out of market.
Hope you understand the choices we make.

Thanks

Can arrange preview during THM Family Day?

Thousand, it would be a launch on the same day as the family day.
The timing is timely and as such the vehicle would be on display at the showroom.

Thanks

no problem, good to see reply by HSDM to show that they do care about club's feedbacks...

anyway, i have seen the real car in Glenmarie, it is a beutiful and special design car which makes Camry looks outdated...
the white with black top is very classy look... most of the people are attracted by the Sonata's exterior design...

I heard some feedbacks about the test drive on 2.0 is better as compared to Camry and Accord 2.0...

after Sonata going on the road and the fuel consumption report shows its is better than Camry and Accord, it would even attract
more buyers to go on Sonata...

I test drive the new Sonata 2.0. With total 3 person in the car, completed 2 short sprint, braking, zig zag and high speed round about conering.

1. Under D mode....1st gear max 80km/hr@ 6200-6500rpm
2. The shifting from 1st to 2nd gear under full acceleration was silky smooth...so you dont really feel that jerk that will push you back to the seat.
3. High speed cornering at the round about....good..very good...it holds very well  . Can feel the engine like tune down abit as I did try to press the acclerator further but the engine wont go.
4. NVH is excellent...hardly can hear engine noise.
5. Braking...hmm..dont feel much improvement...acceptable.
6. The steering feedback is excellent...you really feel its like a drivers car.
7. Under shiftronic mode gear shift...manage to shift up to 4th gear as distance was limited. The responde from each gear shift was not immediate..there is a lag about 1.0s but then this is not DSG gear box where the response is quicker.
8. The response from electronic throttle body with drivers accelerator...is acceptable fast.
9. Head room clearance is very good.
10. Door closing sound...that area need some attention.

Guys & Girls,

Here's my take on the test drive yesterday... I managed to test drive the 2.0L high spec and also the 2.4L. Would like to thank DrHyundai for accompanying me on the test drive. Hope I did not scare him with my chicken feet driving...

For 2.0L, the feeling is good when I stepped in the cabin, very nice and low NVH. The equipment design and fittings feel tight and neat... there's a sense of exclusivesness..... pushing hard on the pedal... the 2.0L really takes off well... nice torque... good engine and better than our Elantra 2L. Push the car into the corners at the roudabout with some understeer, the car maitain it's composure and went fast over a bump and it was quite subtle... overall.. very nice driving experience and feel much better than the 2.0L camry that I test drove sometime ago..

The 2.4L, is a little monster...the Cabin is the same. The pedal is light and torquey... pushed lightly and it really flies... at one point I went so fast that the trade plate in front flew up and hit the bonnet... I had to stopped the car and DrHyundai had to re adjust the plates again... oh well... threw the car into the corner and again understeering with still a lot of control... the car was still in its composure.... I hope I did not scare DrHyundai for that... The tyres used were Kumho, I think... traction was not very good...so hence the excesive understeering...

I love the panoramic roof... had the shades open in both my test drive... nice feeling... parking brake is the foot pedal kind, so cannot do those hand brake turns :P...  but this car is a mid size sedan, hence it's for cruising and it is great for that... but at times you can have it a little agressive and the car does handle that quite well as compared to the Camry... I have no comments on the Accord as I have only test drove the previous model which was quite nice too but the Sonata has a lot to offer in terms of fit and finish, not to mention the smooth Theta II engines! Nice work Hyundai....

Oh.. my share of photos... is at my FB link

From outside the engine sounds fine... inside, it feels quiet... even when revving hard, it sounded nice but not too intrusive...

How many book... I don't know lah.. but when I was there yesterday I saw three person signing up for the car...

Its using mechanical lash adjuster instead of hydraulic lash adjuster. Our X20 is using mechanical lash adjuster....a bit only noisy

so it is quiet in the cabin lah... i think those feedbacks about noisy could be hearing from outside the car or when the bonet was opened or what...

I think the NVH should be very competitive to Camry lah...
